- You can buy a nice high-rise condo in downtown Vancouver, mortgage free.
- You can buy 3 Lamborghinis with that (depending on model and price, but I found one brand new at 133,xxx GPB).
- At the current stock value, you can get over 1,500 shares of Google. (Right now, $515.49)
- Or. You can get this ugly ass logo.
Look at it. That’s the official logo for the London 2012 Olympic Games, as revealed on Monday. Since its revelation, here are the results :
- 50,000+ have signed an online petition to scrap it.
- It’s been condemned as “hideous” by the public and politicians, and even the Mayer of London Ken Livingstone said he wouldn’t have paid for such a thing.
- Several members of the British Parliament signed a motion to ditch the design.
- To add, the campaign video contained too much flashing of light, which has already caused 23 reported case of seizures (epileptic).
Yes, $800,000 or so in Canadian dollars can go quite a far way…

That logo is just freaking ugly, but I wonder how much backlash is because of the ugly logo and how much is from people jealous that someone got paid 400,000 pounds for it.
It’s probably an outrage in terms of tax money gone to waste as well.

Wow, they paid someone for that logo?! They should have just held a contest like Vancouver and awarded it to the most politically correct (aka stupid) design.

And all that time wasted to convince whoever is in charge to take it down. Politics, fucking politics.
But still after so much money went into such a logo maybe they should use it to teach them a lesson in humility.

Sad but true, the logo is for real. I think most elementary kids can come up with something better than that.
HAHAHA!!! OMG! great post! my friend who’s a graphic designer sent me an article with the logo a few days ago. he says “this is the kind of shit that pisses me off. someone got paid to design crap.” lol
Yea, I feel the same way - I could have done a better job at $10,000 CAD! Which would be 5,000 GBP. Not including teh video - the video woudl have cost $50,000 with editing. But it wouldnt’ have caued epileptic seizures.
i say , you can hire a whole bunch of bloggers to enrich your site with that ammount of money , just to be sure you get the uppermost rank up above in technorati or delicious …

That logo for london is very ugly. I don’t think one person likes it. But you at least it gets people talking about london 2012.
Yikes. That logo! It looks like someone wimped out and just had their 12-year-old heavy-metal-fan design it in paint. Horrific.
