China’s Missile Test in Space - and the reaction from USA
On January 11th, China successfully blew up one of their old satellites that was orbiting some 500 miles above the surface of the earth. I perceive this as a great innovation in technology and a major milestone to bring equality in power among different nations.
I personally believe that for the better of the human race, we need more than 1 superpower, and I believe in an even distribution of power and influence. Of course this is an unrealistic goal, but I would really like to see more nations and powers with intimidating powers against the US. Why? It will bring a tension of force that will bring a better balance to the world (brinkmanship like with Cuba in the 60s) so that one superpower cannot trample over other smaller countries at their will for economic/political gain. Just like how politics work out more evenly with 2 large opposing parties struggling with power. Competition will bring some sense of equality as well as preserve more innocent lives.
I have another post about this hypocrisy in this previous post about Bush’s actions to increase troops in Iraq.
Here is the irony of the situation, which points out the hypocrisy of the United States so well. Or perhaps it shows the hypocrisy of politics overall that brings so much trouble all around.
- It was OK for USA to develop AND use the first nuclear bombs ever, yet it’s NOT ok for any other country to come up with any new weapons for themselves? The USA is only another country, not some demi-God of a state that is the ultimate good presiding over other not-so-good nations. In fact, they are the most destructive force against smaller countries of different ideologies and I feel that they deserve the big weapons the least.
- Under the space policy authorized by George Bush, it says the United States asserts a right to “freedom of action in space” and also says it will “deter others from either impeding those rights or developing capabilities intended to do so.” So, the US spy satellites looking into other countries, their communication Satellites that eavesdrop on thousands of phone calls are part of the “freedom of action in space” yet the Chinese blowing up their own Satellite is something that “deters others from either impending those rights or developing capabilities intended to do so”? But what if the Chinese don’t want the US to be spying on them? Don’t they have the right to blow up those spy satellites to protect their own privacy to preserve the “freedom”?
- If the US did not have the technology, my argument would be less powerful. But the first successful Anti-Satellite missile test by the USA was done in 1985. When they have the technology, it doesn’t “deter others from either impending those rights or developing capabilities intending to do so.” yet when the Chinese make it, it’s offensive? Come on.
The thing about the US government that pisses me off the most is of course it’s disparity of actions and words. They brainwash their own citizens as if they are doing the rest of the world a favour by preserving their “democracy” which they uphold as the best system ever. Yet their actions only interpret intentions to dominate over the rest of the world to maintain complete control over all the large guns and weaponry, and basically creates an atmosphere of “Us against them” in this world. “We’re always good, everything we do is good. When we use an atomic bomb it’s for peace. When others develop it it’s for destruction.”
The thing to remember is that every other form of government and economy has an equal chance in the world, or should have an equal chance in the world, and there is no ultimate good or evil. The US dominated with firepower and economic imperialism - somebody else will return the sour favour back soon. And the US will just have to accept the shift of power soon. You are not the ultimate good - just another passing power like Rome, Greece, Mongolia, Japan, and now the USA.

ya itwa s a shock.. it demonstrates that china is able to knock out us satellites to avoid spying ifthey wanted to.
I doubt this will escalate into something like a physical war.. well maybe an economic/political one. I don’t doubt China will take over as the next big superpower though.
